Hi

I haven`t got a campaign yet , but I fancy doing one for the 2nd Afghan war using Battles for empire.

I`ve going to base it on the units I have and not a particular battle but fancy the later part of the war as all my stuff is in khaki.

I will have

10 units of Afghan regular Infantry
3 units of Afghan regular cavalry
3  regular artillery
27 units of tribesmen/ghazi infantry
4 units tribal cavalry
3 tribal artillery

Facing them will be;

4 units british infantry
2 units of Highlanders
5 units of indian infantry
2 units british lancers
2 units Indian lancers
3 mountain guns.

so you can see why I need some gukhas to even it out a bit.

I want to keep it simple so I`m open to Ideas.

Hi Jim

Looks really good! Actually, I now thinking of getting some of the regular Afghan army to add to mine (bloody hell! Another wish list/order :'()

I read somewhere recently some guy who had added a number of differing units in his army that he would swop them around to add a bit of variety to his gaming battles rather than fielding the same every time. I was thinking of having a number of 'flying columns' of Imperial troops comprised of British and Indian troops, similar to your list, embarking on patrols/missions across my fictional campaign map.

I've written an Order of Battle not based on anything historical but inspired by the NWF campaign by Donald Featherstone in his book Wargame Camapigns. I would recommend this book as a good source of information and inspiration as well as his one on solo wargaming (also including a NWF scenario). But saying all that I've been working on it for over a year and have yet to play anything  ;D but I think thats most of the fun doing the research, reading etc.

I hope that's of some use but please let me know if you need anymore
