Think that army is just about finished...

Ok, I know that I can always add stuff - casualty markers, dismounted dragoons etc, but I think I can rest the WSS once the current naked lead is finished, and try to finish another period.  The reason?  Not enough room on a 6x4 table.

Borrowed Sunjester's WSS French last night to play BP with the kids.  Infantry Battalion frontage of 12cm, and units can give support to a unit up to 6cm  to the side.  The 6cm was superflous - We had trouble fitting everything on the table.  My infantry was 3 deep, the left wing cavalry 4 deep.

Once I've got my remaining cavalry painted I'm going to suggest to Sunjester we go for an all day game on a 12 x 4 table.  My rough scale equivalent for Black Powder in cm's is 1mm to 1 yard (based on unit frontages - it gives muskets a makimum range of 180 yards, a close range of 60 yards) - we say things like "The Battalion will advance 100 paces" meaning 10cm.  12 foot is therefore approximately 3600 yards/2mile(ish).

I have 12 Imperial and 6 Prussian Battalions.  In 2 lines this is 9 unit frontage.  If I work on a 4 cm gap between them, this is a frontage of 16 cm per bn, or 1m44/4ft 9 (including the gap to the Cavalry).

I will have 14 cavalry regiments - call it 2 lines of 3 = 6 on each wing (with 2 spare).  My frontage is 15cm.  With 4 cm between regiments (or end regiment and end infantry Bn) that is 1m14/3ft 9.

Drop and inch off each end (no spacing as no further unit) that gives a total frontage of 2m52 - 8ft 6 inches, so about 45cm/18 inches on the flanks, enough to stop the practice of resting your flank on the table edge.

Additionally this size army with markers fits nicely in a 4 tray Very Useful Box.  If I have any room I'll fill that, maybe, but otherwise its finished.
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.
