Next week-end I' m going to go to Dadi.Com, an Italian wargames convention. I hope to find some new rulebooks (and miniatures :D). I' m interested about Ambush Alley "Force on Force" ruleset but I don' t find enough info on the web. Anyone knows or played this ruleset? Is it a good sistem? Thanks.

We've just started playing Ambush Alley and really enjoy it. In 10mm or 15mm, most games can be played on a 2'x2' board which is nice. FoF has the same basic mechanics as AA and looks good as well, although we haven't played these yet.

I've played a boatload of Ambush Alley & Ambush Z [zombies] - they're great rules, work well for solo play & have a nicely simple [but subtle] way of gaming different troop quality [which makes assymetrical warfare a viable gaming option] - essentially using different dice to model this.

Check out the revamped AA website & forum - worth a look & plenty of good advice etc there. Apart from my posts. Obviously.  :D

Played a few times and it is a cracking rule set. Similar to Stargrunt (free from Ground Zero Games) but without the clunky stuff. So it plays very easily.

Check out the forum as it is great as ther are a few game reports. Also check this blog.

Must remember to save it to mine

People are playing at our club. Look good, but one or two ommissions - like Centurions.

Thank you guys. Thanks for the informations and links too. I downloaded the Quick Start rules to better understand the mechanics. I read enthusiastic opinions about this game. Excellent. I'm also interested to Ambush Z. I like zombie games!
Thank you again.

Check out Amazon if you want to buy it. From memory it was going for around £15 and is a very nicely produced book.

Having played pretty-much every zombie game going, I have to say that Ambush Z is my all-time favourite - some of my batreps [in 28mm] are up on the AA forum:

And Steve's right: £14.22 on Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Force-Ambush-Alley-Games/dp/1849085161/

Hello
I REALLY LIKE Ambush Alley and Force on Force ( but I didn't have time to buy the new rules from osprey.. didn't have to play for several weeks   :'(  )
We play AA with modern forces, many people are interested when they saw something else than WW2 and Napoleonics !
We also use this rules in our Spanish War 1936, with these lovely pendraken figs. As a referee, I allow them to use Force on force or AA, depending of the scenario. Everything goes well.

Your correct ianrs54 , there are not every tanks in the "lists" although many players published their own. I read the rules as covering "period". I wrote datas for our SCW1936 campaign. Should we play FoF with a "France 1940" scenario, then I'll change some datas (for the Pz I, for example). To match the "technology level"

FoF/AA ( now known only with the name "Force on force" ) doesn't count every bits of tracks or the thickness of the 30° front armor ... It allows you to PLAY. Good Tactics probably wins... probably.... what's that IED there ?!   run ! run !.....  ;)

as you understood... I really like this rules. And the forum is pretty intersting too ( thanks to people like nikharwood  ).. ( but the new forum is too dark for my eyes.... =) )

You should give it a try !

Thanks - although I've been a bit absent lately...you're right with the darkness too - the previous forum was much easier on the eye!

It should be noted as well that people have used these rules with success to model asymmetric warfare in other periods too - there are some great examples of colonial skirmishes...worth thinking about  :)

Surely I want try this wargame and Ambush Z too.  Also "Tomorrow Wars" looks interesting product. Nikharwood, your Ambush Z battle reports are very nice, I' m proud that your Alpini platoon fought so well  :D. Your batrep gave me the desire to paint my San Marco' s  "Marò" and put them against xenomorph Aliens. You have got a beautifull little princess.
Ok! I' ll try to catch Force on Force rulebook at Dadi.Com.

I succumbed and bought the new rule book yesterday (£14.22 plus free p&p) as a treat to myself :). I plan on using the rules for AVBCW and SCW as well as WWII. Colonial conflicts could be fun as well. Once I'm more au fait with the rules, I'll give these a go.

Kassad

Not found at Dadi.Com. I' ll order rulebook next days. Instead I bought a discounted "Hail Caesar" and put my clutches on a lots of painted Pendraken Amazzons :D
