Everyone:

First, thank you for all the kind words of support.  Here's the initial thread: http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=2561.0

Now an update.  We have cleared out the house and saved anything we wanted to try and clean to keep.  The company we hired to teardown the house spent last week removing the remaining contents.  Tomorrow, 5/4, they will remove the structure.  By Friday there should only be a hole in the ground remaining.

I just picked up the second draft of the blueprints for our new house yesterday.  The builder will start laying out the location of the new house next week.  After that he can get the various building permits, etc. and hopefully the following week they can begin construction on the foundation.  If everythings goes as planned (which it seldom does) we will be in our new house by thanksgiving.

BTW, we will have a finished basement.  My gaming room is laid out as about 14' x 20'.  Should be enough room for a new table, library and work area. :)

Thanks for the update Dale, good to hear things are progressing in a positive direction.  So are you staying with family for the next 6 months then?

No, we are renting a nice apartment in the village about 8 miles from the house.  It's paid for by the insurance company.  Small, 3 bedroom but it will due for now.  The fun starts in 2 weeks when our daughter comes home from college for the summer.  Then it will be cramped but everyone knows it's not forever.

Thanks for the info, at least the insurance company are footing the bill.  We had no end of trouble trying to get ours to pay out on a lot of the items, and they've still not sent the cheque for the lost possessions.

If you have the time, I'd be really interested in hearing the progress on the new house (and gaming room!) as it goes up.

Leon:
I've heard so many stories from people that have had bad experiences with their insurance company.  Every thing went pretty good for us.  It took about 2months to get the check for the structure and about another month to get the check for the contents.  We received our max amounts in both cases.  I guess we just got lucky that way.

Excellent, hope everything continues in that manner.   8)
