I was just looking through a copy of Bowdens, Armies on the anube 1809, and the French had quite a few Southern German allies in 1809.  It looks like many of the infantry can be created using French models.  Not sure about the cavalry.

1809 French and Austrians seems like a very good timeframe for modeling.  I suspect those will be good models through the end of the Napoleonic period.  So they can be used for other campaigns beyond 1809 including Spain, Russia, grand coalition and 100 days Waterloo.

I am curious how well the 1812 Russian, French and Austrian lines mix with the new 1809 French/Austrian lines?  Are the builds and heights similiar?  Can they be mixed together in the same unit?

I have read the 1812 line is suppose to be pretty good.  If they mix well with the 1812 lines, I might fill some 1809 gaps with 1812 troops.  In particular, will need some artillery shortly.  Not to mention, Austrian cavalry.

They stand up pretty well next to each other, I posted this pic in the French thread, with a new 1809 figure in between two 1812 ones:

Thanks Leon!  That does look like a very good match.

This month we've got the Cuirassiers!

We also got a set of command for the Chevauleger, but I'll keep hold of those until the troopers arrive in next months batch before photo'ing them all together.

Great.

My son (13) is collecting Austrians and seeing me struggle with the French hussars was a little worried about having to make all his light cavalry hussars.  :-[
Unfortunatly I reassured him with the comment that chevaux-leger which would be easy to paint but will probably be a late arrival or not all.  :(
This will please him intensly.  :)

Plus the added bonus that they can be used as dragoons. Or do you intend to do a seperate dragoon figure? The uniform is the same cut with only a (theoretical) colour difference but I suppose you may wish to put the dragoons on a different horse?

Cheers, Rob  :)

The Dragoon and the Chevauleger will be the same figure, I've also got a note saying that they'll do for mounted Jagers as well.

I've not got any pics of them (as they're a bit difficult to photo with only one wheel, or a barrel on a sprue!), but the Austrian artillery have arrived at Pendraken HQ today!  In this batch, we've got all the infantry artillery, including:

- 3 pdr
- 6 pdr
- 12 pdr
- 7 pdr Howitzer
... and a limber!
