This month we're moving into the Austrian cavalry, with the Hussars the first off the production line.  We'll be adding more horse-y types next month, and then hopefully some artillery not far behind!

Boy, I am really getting the itch for some Napoleonics.    I was looking for a thread for "first look" Napoleonic French and can't find one.  Is there one?

Thanks Nik!  That is what I was looking for.

If I remember correctly, I read somewhere there were only three basic uniforms during the Napoleonic war.  Those nations with the same uniforms would have different coloring.  I am curious if anyone has done any research to determine which, if any, of the 1809 French and Austrian 1809 figures can be used to represent other nations as is or with minor modifications?

You could certainly use the French as Westphalians, Neapolitanians or (hey..it's only 10mm after all) Saxons.

And the Brits provided uniforms to Spain, Belgium and I think, the Netherlands.  I wonder which allies the Austrians provided uniforms.

Jagger,

And also to the later Prussians I think!

I will have to check that out.  It would be nice to get a start on the Prussians.

Saxons in 1809 wore bicorne  ;)

J.S.

True, but he only asked how the 1809 figs could be used in general, not for any specific campaign.  :-\
I think everyone has to decide for himself what's"close enough" and what's just pure heresy  8)
