Wayne, very nice, useful links as well.
One thing that is niggling me,  you might want to check your Prussian flags, they look like post 1871 issue standards. The Prussians were still using 'cruciform' standards ala The Napoleonic Wars.Yours were adopted later I believe.
I hear someone called 'Pendraken' does nice ones!!!  

If I haven't mentioned it before David Ascoli 'A Day of Battle' is worth picking up...

Pendraken do a nice range of 10mm flags Wayne; the usual black/white cross plus some nice Grenadier and Guards flags to break the monotony. BTW, perhaps my eyes deceive me but are your french infantry wearing white kepis? If so is there a reason? Finally have you seen the Pendraken Mitrailleuse? Beautiful, worth buying just to put them on the board.

Thanks too Cameronian, I have thought about them but the figures have the metalic flag on the pole so I just paint that, lazyness more than anything I guess, it's a trait I have come to love in me ;o)

Awee........do you know ! I have been doing the French for the Maxemillian Wars not too long back and I was thinking of the FFL, doh ! They should be dark blue lower and maroon top, lmao...you know it's great to get feedback like this...

I have four, im only using three batteries of guns with each army, but you know what its like you get ordering and before you know it you have too many guns (is there such a think !?)

The French will have 2 x gun batteries and 1 x Mitrailleuse, the Prussians 3 x Guns.

While we're on feedback, great looking army but there was one thing I noticed that won't take too long to fix and it's the sailors - the French sailors had a nickname of 'cherry-cupcakes' due to the red pom-pom on the caps (either navy blue or white) and the dress regs for other ranks were unchanged from the 1850s until after WW2 -







You could probably fix this up within 5 minutes

Would it be ealistic of me to keep a unit on the french line as FFL ? in white kepi and repaint the rest or was the white kepi not used during this period ?

Ive just had one of those moments of madness...I may rebase them all to four a base as the bayonets arnt going to stand alot of box rattling and handling before they come off.

Anyone based up on four to a base ?

Also I would get twice the number of units for my money...hmm ? one to think about

Have seen one contemporary painting of a French general in August 1870 wearing a havelock over his kepi but in general terms the white kepi is a no no for the FPW. With regard to basing I am intending to do four line to a 30x20 base for the Real Time Wargames rules. This also puts jagers and chasseurs-a-pied 2/3 on a 30mm circular base and some officers are individually mounted. There are valid reasons in the rules for this basing system.
