Three years ago mine began to detach, which freaked me out. They decided to leave it and see how it went and it reattached nicely a few months later. The human body is weird.

Looks like he went okay, just has to be horizontal for a bit

Thanks for posting that, Will. :)
I was wondering whether I should phone the 'factory' and pester either Dave or Adele, to find out how it went, or leave them in peace.

Now you've posted that.....I'll leave them in peace.

Cheers - Phil. :)

Also hoping for a quick recovery.

I know it might seem boring, but there is a lot of things you can do horizontal without the use of your eyes.  :-B

Anyway, get well soon!

I think I'm glad I don't 'DO' facebook,

I don't want to see that..It'll give me ideas, as I've got the Swann Morton scalpel handle that takes eye surgery blades....(Shiver,)......(and oodles of the actual sterile blades.

I trust Leon had the laser treatment.

It was just a picture of Leon with an eye pad, nothing graphic  ;)

He even had his glasses on  :-B

Well.....I can see piccys of Leon's back garden where he's slopped some tapioca pudding into a 'pond', pretending that it's frog spawn...but I can't see anything resembling his impersonation of some famous naval commander.

Hey, ho....never mind. :D

I've had both laser eye surgery as well as the scalpel variety.

I couldn't see the difference.

Well, you wouldn't would you.

Mike, likely this was a vitreous detachment which is equally alarming but frequently can be left alone. It comes often to us more seasoned folks. A retinal tear or detachment is a true medical emergency and requires quick intervention. In either case seeing a doctor quickly is essential since the symptoms a very similar.

A blow to the head is a frequent causes of a retinal detachment but there is a strong congenital component that is in play as well. A sneeze can cause it in those more prone to it. The good news is quick treatment almost always brings excellent outcomes.
