ECW Scots Musketeers, advancing, in bonnet

After a few months of painting leading up to this year's Painting Competition, I found I needed to take a break from the ACW before tidying up a few loose ends.

I found myself looking at painting some more units for another Civil War, only 200 years earlier.  I had enough pikemen for another three regiments but need to order some more musketeers.  I thought that if I finished these units and did another three, I would have completed the original plan.

That got me thinking about adding a small Covenanter Army of say six foot units. I had used EC37- Musketeers, advancing, in Hat for my English units and blithely thought that there would be a Scots equivalent.

Alas, there isn't and I'm faced with the prospect of trimming the hats off of 96 Musketeer figures and replacing them with 96 little blobs of Green Stuff.

The EC37 figures are great little pieces of sculpting and I'm sure that I would not be alone in wishing to see their Scottish cousins joining the catalogue.

Yes, they would be very useful DHautpol.

I ended up using some musketeer figures from another company when I was developing my Covenanter force quite a few years ago.

That option is now gone as the other company has closed down.

I'd add that a Scottish mounted officer in bonnet would be useful as well. :)

but others may benefit.

Too late for your Covenanters fsn but there are existing unit level mounted officers in bonnets in EC20 Scots Cavalry and EC21 Scots Lancers.

My sources show that higher level Covenanter commanders (Brigadiers and General officers) seem to have worn fancier civilian type clothes or cuirasses with shashes so any of the General figures in the ECW or League of Ausburg ranges are suitable (and what I ended up using for all my Covenanter commanders).

I await a knock on the door from the 17th Century wargaming police if my depiction is not correct, but I don't think they'll be turning up anytime soon  ;)   :-w

Thank you Mr The Shy.

Indeed there are the officers in the cavalry, and the officer class did wear hats but, and it's a big but, I tend to have large numbers of junior officers and ADCs. Also. not all Covenanters affected the hat - a good few wore the bonnet.

As I say, it's too late for me.

Unless Pendraken release later Scots musketeers in which case Worcester may beckon.
