For years I have enjoyed your prize spoons (spoon prizes) without ever asking the question - Why spoons?

Isn't receiving a wooden spoon a pretty colloquial term for coming last in a contest/competition etc?

Seems to have its origin in a 19th century Cambridge University practice of awarding a wooden spoon to the student who passed their degree with the lowest marks.

Academics do have a sense of humour too

I live in the backwoods. Don't get out much so have never heard of that, a lump of coal maybe, but not a spoon.

By the end of game three, I was so far behind, that even if I had scored a maximum win with no losses, I could not have caught the guy I was playing round four!

Thankfully he's one of my best friends, we cut our losses, put our toys away, and we played a lot of quick card games (Dog Days, latest Star Wars Card game, a WWII game, Tiny Pocket Galaxies etc) instead and had a lot of fun.
