Having finished a whole lot of Japanese 1/300th aircraft (some of which have been in my lead pile for almost 20 years!  :-[  :-[  ;)) I've moved onto to doing some Raiden models that I have acquired from Leon over the last few orders I have done for other stuff.

The Spitfires and Hurricanes have come up really nicely, even with my "wargaming" level painting. Marking wise I'm keeping them to a generic finish with roundels and tail flashes only as they will be flying in several different theatres over time.

Sitting here looking at cockpit framing for the German bombers, especially the He 111's - there's no way with my eyes that I feel confident of doing that without some optical enhancement, so off to get something to help with that.

I have everything else needed to finally bring this very long winded project to the table, though more time and a bit more motivation may assist. I will document my efforts once complete.

Excellent, that's great to hear.  We don't see many pics of them painted up so I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

I "adopted" an pair of 6.00+ reading glasses Mrs Shy uses occasionally to do very fine patchwork stiches with, they fit the bill nicely vision wise for me.

I like the Raiden planes as they have a lot more surface detail than older 1/300 models I have picked up over the years. The canopy lines are well defined and easy to paint up to. The He 111's cleaned up nicely with just a bit of filing. Decided to add thin brass rods in the nose, lower aft and upper gun positions to depict MG 15's which are not shown on the model.

I've never thought of posting my Raiden aircraft here (180 in 61 different guises) as I've considered it the place for 10mm goodness.

We're always happy to see non-Pendraken items too, there's a separate board for that kind of stuff here: https://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/board,77.0.html

I've just tried to posting an image from my website but it doesn't appear.  My previous posts with images are now missing their pictures.  Is it something to do with my site not having a security certificate?

I think it might be, I can see the images intact on your site but it won't allow me to link any of them here?  I've just tried linking one from your homepage below but it's not visible at all.

And again so that you can see which one I'm using!

Wednesday is a "day off" for me so in between domestic duties I have added MG's to the He 111's and decaled the RAF fighters.

I'm using the I-94 BR-107 sheets which have the separate yellow surrounds for fuselage roundels. Apart from having two decals to apply they are very stright forward to do and line up easily. A coat of micro sol setting solution all round and they're done.

My only regret is not having painted these up sooner  :-[

I'll put something together once I have a few more opponents....got to keep your eyes peeled for the escort  =)

I'm looking forward to seeing them.

What's the wing span of a Spitfire? I don't know if I've got 1:200 or 1:300.
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

What version of Spitfire?

pierre the shy

Raiden Spitfire Mk 1 model (1/285 scale) has a wingspan of 40mm, Hurricane Mk 1 is 43mm.
