A while back, a friend had to deal with the estate of a wargamming collegue. Amongst the figures were a selection of 10mm Pendraken Sudan figures, mostly Anglo-Egyptian, some painted, some not.
I rebased the originals and added some in later uniforms for the reconquest period. There are more to come, firstly to take my figures up to five base units.

The batch I painted

Top down on the full patrol

Sudenese infantry in Egyptian service

Egyptian cavalry

Egyptian foot in campaign dress

The bits I rebased, two units of British infantry, two units of earlier Egyptian infantry

As soon as I posted the previous post, I realised that I really should have my units at the same strength in bases as those I inherited, so extra bases done.
Egyptian Cavalry

Looking on

Still waiting

Extra Egyptians and Sudenese units

Gets me four more strength units. Now need to decide how many figures and bases for the Mahdists

Another unit of Egyptian infantry, Sudanese infantry and three artillery batteries

It's a lot of shot

They look good!

For some reason, artillery on wide squat bases look really odd to me  <) I know this is a 'me problem' and I have no idea why this should be the case.

I usually ram two guns on a base that size, but I was going with what I had got!

Extra Anglo-Egyptian forces, quite a few of them.

Starting, of course, with two more units of Sudenese.

2/3 view

Side on

There's something out there

It's getting quite a large force now, but quantity doesn't equal quality (I'm looking at you Comrade Stalin)

An extra unit of Egyptians painted up like the original owner did them

Fire line

Will use them as Turkish or Garrison troops, as opposed to field forces

'Tiz a simple paint job, but I like it!

Bangs

Prussian supplied limbers

Supplied by Leon and team

Do like a limber team, gives an army depth

Escorted teams too

Think of running these in a campaign, so had better get on with th Mahdists

I predict a LOT of camels being ordered and on my painting table soon

First Mahdist units done. Had a lot of fun researching these, composing units and painting them.
Most units will be designed to be used by all tribal groups, so you will see some of each figures in each unit, but there will be some specialised units.
Three Hadendoa/Fuzzy (etc) units

Top view

A lot deeper than the European regular troops, on purpose, to make them more hoard-y

And going the other way

Ansar units (think central government units, without centralisation, maybe). Shooter unit and turbaned unit.

Top view of these.

Packing shot

Had a lot of fun with the flags

Big guns - not quite, but the idea was there. Artillery will come, I'm sure.

Final unit of this batch and generals

Sneaky sneaky

Blending in a bit?

Get 'em!

Very nice looking units, the extra depth of the bases definitely gives them a more "warbandy" look.
