Painted 10mm figure prices?

I agree on that, I wonder how some of the painting services manage to make a living when I see some of these prices.  I think it's just another area, like most of this hobby, where the price points are still artificially low for the time and effort involved.

I think they probably are too low generally.  Some of the comments you see about prices leads me to believe that the average wargamer is beyond tight-fisted.

Good question.  I wonder if anybody has ever done the research; frankly I doubt it.  Like you, it has never occurred to me to do it, but only because I enjoy painting as much as any other facet of the hobby.

I've bought the odd set of painted figures off eBay - but generally to acquire the figures - the painting is generally just a bonus. Some have had good paint jobs and I have been happy to use them, some have been poor and these have either been stripped, or used as a base for an updated paint scheme. 

I have paid a mate to paint my 10mm Dwarven army as I was just not getting round to painting them. 

But these are just a fraction of my total figure collection - I do generally enjoy the painting of my armies!

I will buy painted figures off e-bay, if they look reasonable well done. Most  I have had to tidy up, nearly all re-base. There has to be sufficient figures in the "lot" to make complete units

I have also commissioned figures to be painted, with varying results. From excellent to throw them in the bin.

I do both of these to increase my armies quickly, as I do like painting and basing. I find it is very relaxing most of the time. To the extent that Mrs Orcs will "send me to my room to paint" if I haver not done so for a while and I am getting "tetchy"

As to price, It depends on what I am bidding on. If its a large collection of figures (say 100+) I will pay more per figure, as I will if there is enough for a full unit.  I depends on what's on offer and how good it is
