Well yes, you were synchronised divers, I expect practising was a bit tricky!
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

The worrying thing is the US didn't win any shooting medals... @-)

Need an 'Urban Freestyle' event for them.

I would suggest the following reasons:
1 None of the events used full bore weapons. Americans consider air pistols and rifles and .22 rimfire rifles as kids toys.
2 Just because you own several does not necessarily mean you know how to handle them properly.
3 Having been a shooter for 40 years there is a big difference between shooting things that react, eg Tin cans, bottles, live targets when hunting etc, and a paper target in a competition.

Maybe the Yanks are just rubbish at shooting.

Shouldn't be; they get plenty of practice

Just watching the windsurfing. This year they are using new (to me at least) style boards which have a hydrofoil on them - looks very impressive as they literally fly along at up to 25 knots.

'They' have a number of sports that go back to 'ancient times'...archery, catching the javelin, the discus, etc, etc..

I'd like to see a new category...the slingshot.
It looks a particularly difficult skill to master.

Would it be possible to modernise a piece of string, and a stone ?..

Probably ! ;)

Hi-tech carbon fibre sling with built in motion detector to signal the exact moment to release the shot via a Bluetooth link to the boar's tusk* helmet.

Firing perfectly balanced, aerodynamically perfect, nano-material bullets.

*100% synthetic tusks. No animals were harmed in the making of these helmets. PETA approved. :)

Watching the bicycling round and round. I told the British women to cycle faster, and they did. Maybe I should be a coach!

Just settled down to watch the cycling and the BBC switched to hockey. Ho hum.

The team triathlon this morning was a terrific race. Don't think I've ever seen one that close before.

I find myself wanting to punch someone ever time I hear the word 'medal' used as a verb.

Words change.

150 years ago 'obnoxious' meant something completely different (dangerous, I think).
