Possibly a really stupid question. When using smaller figures the rules suggest you "halve all weapons ranges". Do people halve just the weapons ranges or halve everything movement/command distances / artillery templates/ deviation etc? The later feels logical but not quite what the rules say. Thanks in advance

If you are using the same size bases as suggested in the rules but with smaller figures then just use them as they are.

If you halve the distances you will need to do it on all the measurements.

Are the rules in inches? If so just use centimetres.
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

Rules are in cm - if upscaling from 6 or 10mm to 15/20 then inches may be more appropriate. Ground scale is not stated but it's roughly 1/2000.

To answer the original question - yes, if halving weapon ranges then also halve all other measurements.

But  . . .

I'm a big fan of using 40% rather than halving. Why? Generally it keeps measurements as whole centimetres.

E.g.: 5cm -> 2cm rather than 2.5cm.

10cm -> 4cm
15cm ->6cm
20cm ->8cm
25cm ->10cm
30cm ->12cm
etc.

I used this scheme when playing a mini skirmish Warmaster variant years ago.

Thanks. Can see the logic but my mental arithmetic wouldn't be up to it.

I'd suggest creating your own QRS and data sheets if you are going to change the distances rather than recalculating during a game
