Greater London is over 600 square miles. Over 40 miles East to West and over 30 miles North to South.

So you need to be a lot more precise. What university and what area.

The Atheneum on Pall Mall is very good, they encourage individuals to apply for membership from a wide range of backgrounds, although coming from 'up north', particularly that particular part you have the misfortune to live in, I'm not sure but you could give it a go.  He'll certainly have to do something about that ghastly accent. :D

Ah, I see it's wargames clubs you are after.  SELWG is possible the biggest and arguably the best, and is based in Catford.  There are a number of directories on line.  Here is one to try.  https://wargamingclubs.co.uk/club-directory/

I think he was looking for a recommendation, from a current or past member.

We still need a better definition of area though. EG SELWG and Loughton Strike force are both in Greater London, but are 22 miles and 1.55 hours apart by public transport. Both of which are a similar distance and time from West London legion in Northfields again  still in Greater London

Ah, I too was thinking of a different type of club - Stringfellows to be precise  ;D

I'm a past member of SELWG but decades ago, so that's not much use now but he asked for "some web site URL's for clubs in greater london", not recommendations.

Okay. My bad. Have to admit that I did fail to understand the original request.

These aren't recommendations, just the URLs for the places I mentioned.

Though, didn't Margaret Thatcher hold a morning meeting session over tea and coffee at Stringfellow's a few decades ago? Is that a recommendation  :-\
