vehicle windscreens

I have been trying a few ideas to get the right effect for a cast 10mm windscreen.

  One idea is to paint the screen in a light matt and shade with a soft lead B pencil - the results are quite pleasing
The other idea for tinted glass is to cut pieces of 35mm film to size and glue into place.  I might try this with choppers as well.

Any other bright ideas ?

This is not easy - i use mist blue on 6mm/15mm and 20mm stuff. Ive tried silver, gun metal and gloss black. The mist blue, if you dont run it into the corners and undercoat black, looks right, although it's totally wrong!

There is a product from Squadron Signal, a plastic model seller. It is called Micro Clear, it is a really thick white glue like substance that you paint on to the window. It drys clear and looks fantastic, just paint a light gray with a little highlight and then put the Micro Clear on.
I use it for all kinds of windscreens and windows. I am sure that a good plastic model hobby store would have it.
