Hello

I wanted to mix the armoured pikemen ECW1 with the matchlock troops from LOA range - eg: LOA 13 to make Imperial P&M units from late 1600s.  Any views on their height compatability?

Thanks
Richard

Without going to find the figures and check - I would say yes the infantry of the two ranges would fit together fine.

The LoA cavalry do tend to ride larger horses than the ECW ones.

I wouldn't mix the two range myself.  I toyed with the idea for my ECW project a couple of years ago and decided against it.  The LoA is by a different designer and although there's nothing wrong with the ECW range the two are quite different in the context of those intangibles 'character' and 'style'.

I've mixed in a few of the LOA command elements to my ECW units without any issues.

Took some photos for you

While there are definitely stylistic differences I'd be ok to use the infantry together

I've used some of the very nice LoA range mounted command figures in the War of the Three Kingdoms (i.e. "ECW" period) Scots Royalists and Covenanter armies that I have. They go together with the ECW ranges seemlessly.

FWIW combining infantry figures from various Pendraken ranges across overlapping time periods doesn't seem, to me anyway, to be an issue...the W3K Highland units I have got come from no less than 4 different Pendraken ranges but look fine together.

As Fred points out there are stylistic differences but overall they work together well.

M Le shy!

I am definitely following in your footsteps.

I must confess to having bought some Scottish officers from Lancer. The horses are ... good approximations of ill-bred ponies.

QuoteI can't see those photos Fred.
That is odd. They are hosted on Imgur - which is what I typically use.

Where you have quoted my post, the photos show up there (at least for me)

Can you see photos on my painting diary thread?

I can see the photos. The main problem for me is that the LoA officer's half pike is taller than the ECW pikemen's full one!  But then I have always held that Pendraken's otherwise excellent ECW range has been let down by equipping the pikemen with boar spears!
