Just seen screenshots of a comedian saying "one thing led to another" is lazy writing. The example he gave was

Adolf Hitler was rejected from art school, one thing led to another, and it ended up with 2 nuclear bombs being dropped on Japan.

What examples can you think of? Mine is

Robert Whitehead invented the modern naval torpedo, one thing led to another, and it ended with Sound of Music beating Doctor Zhivago to the Oscar in 1963.
