I have a request for a few sailor types.    Say Royal Navy circa 1890s- 1940s

* Deck hand with pole
* senior officer , double breasted jacket with bins/ revolver
* "hands on wheel ' type
*  guard duty with rifle -  with potential for shore party

The generic life span would fits with quite q few ranges - ie Sudan, S Africa, WW1, VBCW, WW2

Ummm I did. They are ALL in 'shore order' -that is full kit, ammo pouches ,rifles  and very practical straw hats.

Sailors on ship are seldom armed - working ship/manning guns.  I just want a few crew figures working the ship  and a naval boarding party 1890s- 1939 in light order.

There are some gunners I think - I have some but no idea where they came form.

Hi Sunray

I've been poking around in all the dark corners looking for naval stuff and the best interwar looking RN types I came up with were the WW1 German East African sailors (GEA4):-

I'm getting some soon and will let you know my opinions but they look like they are close enough that my multifocals won't tell the difference at arms length  ;D ;D.

From the WW2 British range there are:-

BR130 Oerlikon 20mm cannon + naval crew (2)
BR125 Naval crew

I haven't seen them but I believe they are in duffel coats and helmets.

If you're looking for French inspired naval types then there are the FPW French Sailors (I'm getting these as well, will let you know).

Cheers

Thanks GOM, these ae very good !!!

For French have a look at the Russian sailors in WW1 and 2 ? ranges - I have a pack of these, and the headgear is not unlike that worn by French sailors

And yes, RN types are in  a duffel coat/helmets .

Hi Sunray

The GEA WW1 types look to be good generic naval types and apart from wearing webbing could be used for all the uses for which you were looking.

I thought about the Russian sailors but they are usually in calf length boots and I was looking for short gaiters. I found a pic of the French FPW sailors:-

Seeing the dress regs for other ranks didn't change from about 1850 to post 1945 they seem to be tailor made for my purposes of French shore parties of an occupying force  :D

Cheers

If the uniform did not change since 1850, have a wee look at code FPW12 in the 19th century '1870' French range.
Perhaps Leon has an image somewhere ??
