Hi,
We just added Support platoon 81mm Mortars to our games.
I was wondering if mortars could fire smoke?
If so, how would that work? Fired at individual units or area effect?

Thank you, Rradical

On-table guns and mortars only fire at individual enemy units (even with smoke). They don't use area templates.
And yes, most medium mortars (c.81mm) will be able to fire smoke. There is no deviation involved, if you hit your target, you put a blob of smoke (cotton wool) on it and it is smoked. There is no Saving throw or Suppression throws involved.

If you have a number of mortars you are best to spread their shooting against a number of different targets if firing smoke, as having more than one mortar firing only really improves the chances of the Smoke actually being delivered, it doesnt increase the size of the smoke 'screen'.

I hope all that makes sense.
Cheers

Thanks for the fast reply Big Insect!

It makes sense to me.  That's how we will play it.

Thanks again, Rradical
