Just seeking some clarification for artillery.

I assumed that scheduled missions were nominated as hitting a specified point on the table on a specified game turn. In other words, a registered target. But then there is this mysterious sentence on p48 "Scheduled artillery support hits the aiming point, as does artillery firing against a registered target".

To my addled brain, this implies that scheduled and registered isn't the same thing. If scheduled artillery isn't hitting a registered target, where is it hitting?

Also, I assume that scheduled/registered aiming points are written down in secret before the game?

thanks

You are correct - Scheduled targets are using pre-purchased assets (HE or Smoke from off table artillery - for example).
A single target point is nominated ahead of the start of the first game turn and you must make a note of the location of the target and the turn you want the asset (fire) to hit it.
You can cancel an asset - which means it does not fire in its prescribed turn - but in doing so that asset is lost (& cannot be used to fire in another turn). Typically only a single scheduled target can be allocated to an asset.

In essence Scheduled and Registered/Pre-registration are the same thing.

Thanks
