Saturday's real life, face to face gaming, involing at least two different players using 10mm figures!

Sounds like it was very enjoyable, Will...even with a result like that. X_X

Cheers - Phil. :)

Very nice, the opening shot to each battle has a lovely sense of mass.

Very nice Will and I love the chariots with the parasol tops to them 8).

I think you/Henry might need a different approach in future - more Border Horse (if you can have them) and maybe some Kerns might help on the scouting front (as the terrain choice is so critical), but it was interesting to see the 'power' of the Spanish shot in action - very nasty.

Billmen should (historically) be the counter-foil to those demonic Spanish sword & bucklermen supermen, is that the case in MeG?

I have the army in 28mm (lovely TAG figures & some Foundry/GW) and I must admit it does struggle against more 'modern' in-period armies.
I play FoGR with it.

NB: have you seen the Viggo Mortensen film: 'Captain Alatriste -The Spanish Musketeer' ?
A lot later than your encounter, but still a great watch (IMHO).

A rethink is definitely on the cards...
Billmen would have worked well vs Swordsmen, but wrong place, wrong time.
The border horse did smash the flank of the one unit I broke.

Does anybody do 10mm 'Schrimps' - I have the 28mm ones from TAG and they are lovely. But I suspect that as you'd only need a couple (at a guess) you could convert them from light artillery pieces easily enough.
