Looking to game the actions in the mountainous Radfan area in 10mm.  Operations in the town of Aden are perhaps more suited for 28mm.

The Vietnam Australians with slr in soft hats should pass quite well for British in tropical kit and the Korean War British figures with Bren and smg look fine.

The vehicles are well covered with the Ferret, Saracen and Saladin models.

However, I am having more trouble in locating figures for the locals who would be turbaned and using the like of WWII era Lee Enfields and smgs.  Any suggestions for these: I don't see any irregular Arab infantry in the WW! Middle East range which would have been fine.

What figures are being used as opponents for the French Foreign Legion as they are perhaps the closet in clothing and weapons?

Perhaps the rifle armed natives in Colonial Sudan/Egypt and NW Frontier?

Have you looked under the Spanish Civil War range? The Moroccans.

can be used with some "smoothing" of the military jackets. Esp for the "regulars" of the Federation of South Arabia (who often fought for every "side")

looking forward to seeing photos of your forces as my Father served in Aden, the Radfan and Dhofar during "the Emergency" and various revolts.

Many thanks for the suggestions.

Have a look at the Indo-China and Vietnam ranges, there are some potential types there though you'd need to do some work on them.
I thought of using some of the Viet-Minh/Viet-Cong figures to represent PFLO insurgents for a Dhofar War project but although they sometimes wore trousers, local dress of tribesmen in South Arabia generally was much more typical.
From pictures I've seen of the Aden Emergency/Radfan Campaign it was the same.  The sarong-type wizar (that's what it is called in Oman anyway, not sure about Yemen) bare legs, sandals or bare feet, with a military-style shirt and shemagh or bareheaded.
The same can be said for the Omani government Firqa troops, the only real difference was the weapons they carried.
Unfortunately I've found nothing really suitable in any of Pendraken's ranges, so my project remains on the 'back-burner' for the time being.
A generic South Arabian 'Adoo' range would be quite useful I think, and provide a suitable enemy for any number of the modern ranges which could represent 'government' forces.
Let us know how you get on.
