These are a set of period specific Wars of the Roses rules that were released in May this year  - there are also 2 scenario books covering the main 16 battles between them.

I am co - author of the rules with my friend Tim Couper.  They are scale agnostic, people have used 6mm, 10mm, 15mm, 28mm and the Wofun flats and even Towton in 28mm can be played on a 6 x 4 table.

The rules are card driven, only use 1 D12 per player and pretty simple once you have grasped the mechanics which are designed to give real period flavour.  Most games last between 1 and 2 hours.

The rules, scenario books (softcover and PDF)  and cards are available from testofresolve.com.  If you prefer you can order the softcover books through Amazon and download a plainer copy of the cards for free from the website. There is a lot more on our Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/748158095970079 where you can see a couple of videos and a turn by turn run through of the rules together with an increasing number of battle reports.  Solo gamers seem to particularly like them as the cars introduce a degree of unpredictability

If you have any questions on the rules please post here or on the facebook page and I will get back to you as soon as I can

Hi Dave

Can I ask the perennial question - what about basing? I see on the website for 28mm you have 60-70mm frontage, for infantry is the depth around 40mm? This is one of the few periods I have a 28mm army in!

For 10mm 40mm frontage is mentioned, would depth typically be 20mm for infantry?

Thanks, very helpful (as someone who loathes Facebook).

To the OP, good luck with these, but honestly they're too expensive for me :( (and I already have Never Mind the Billhooks).

Thanks for posting the link - I had meant to but didn't  :o

Basing has not been an issue for most people.  Whatever you curently have will usually work.  When playing the game there can normally not be more than one company attacking any of the front, 2 flanks or rear of another so as long as the opposing sides are reasonably compatible that will be OK.  Depths are even less of an issue so use whatever looks right on your figures within reason.

On the subject of cost I appreciate that everyone has thier own price point.  PDF versions are a little cheaper and the cards can be downloaded fror free, as can the QRF.

Although I have not played Billhooks I know that an awful lot of people have enjoyed them immensely.  Test of Resolve comes at the period from a totally different angle which lots of people also seem to enjoy.  From my perspective anything that gets more wargamers into the Wars of the Roses is a good thing. :)
