Having to move my gaming stuff as we are having some building work done. So I've put all my RUB together - more than I thought.

My wife initially thought this was all my gaming stuff...

With the commission figurines inserts I've managed to get 6 layers in the 9L boxes

2012 Painting Competition - 2 x Runner-Up

For my 10mm and 6mm I can fit most into the 12x 12" scrap boxes, which are ideal as they are shallower then Really Useful Boxes.

https://www.westonboxes.com/products/12x12-craft-storage-box

They will fit 90 models based 32mm x 32mm (Spearhead rules). If you buy in bulk you can get the price down, and sometimes the manufacturer has special offers on seconds. But if you want to buy direct they are stocked in The Range stores around the art section.

Some of the taller tanks don't fit in, and probably cavalry with standards raised don't, but for the bulk of your infantry and guns, they are ideal.

There have been other threads on this but can't find them on a quick search, I use these things https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07GS5HGCD which work a treat and stack up nicely for minimal wasted space. I line the bottom with stuck on magnetic receptive paper to keep it all secure.
like MMCV  I use these boxes as well they also do a bigger box which I find ideal for 6mm.
for Magnetic paper 10 pack I use these

I don't have a specific option for 10mms, but for my miniatures I tend to reuse corrugated cardboard boxes such as photocopier paper boxes with handmade inserts to act as trays to hold them. Use that option with my 28mm, 20mm, 15mm and 10mm figures.

I've a collection of 16" pizza boxes with 390mm square steel inserts glued inside.
They happily stack 6 deep (40mm high inside) and accommodate most stuff I use.
Transport is OK 2 deep, wrapped in a bin-bag.

The few bigger things are in 4L Really useful boxes with an A4 steel insert..

In Makro I realised I could pick those up very cheaply, so for anyone that has access to the wholesalers like that its a good approach.

Having spent a significant amount of time effort and money on my wargames stuff I only use good quality boxes now. Have seen to many "odd" carboard boxes deposit the figures inside all over a dark carpark when they fell apart or slipped off the pile being carried.

That's about one third of my RUB boxes.

This is a key point - if you need to transport your figures for games, you need very different storage solutions than if you game at home.

I think they multiply when left alone. While I've certainly bought a fair few, I'm not sure I bought this many. And I've recently passed quite a few over to my wife for her craft stuff, as I bought some Ikea drawer units to store figures in.

RUBs with trays.  Why wouldn't you?
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

They also grow bigger- well that's the excuse I made to Mrs Orcs when I inadvertently let her up into my wargames loft over the garage , and she saw the eight 64 liter boxes that hold my terrain tiles.   :D :D

Just did a rough count. I have the equivalent of 112 RUB 4l boxes spread over mostly 4l and 9l but a few 18l as well.

And I still have a ton of cardboard boxes and library file boxes.

And, I still buy figures.

So more like 4x as many!!

I find that painting figures and basing them makes them take up way more space. Unpainted figures are very high density for storage.

I'm not a fan of the RUB 3x5 trays for painted figures, but they are great for unpainted ones.

They work well with 30 x 30 bases and are ok for my WSS based on 30 x20mm. Only problem I find is with some of the standard bearers the pole is a fraction to high and the next tray bends it.

Here's a picture of my 4 liter RUB boxes.

I use the ProMag magnetic adhesive sheet which comes in a 12" x 24" roll which I cut to 8" x 12" and adhere to each box.

This is actually a new system for me as I recently built new, movable storage units and my previous boxes were too big for the shelves.
Here's a picture of those shelves:

You can read more about it on my blog post: http://gamingreference.blogspot.com/2020/11/storage.html.

That's a cool idea, very handy storage.  We've got a couple of Billy's in the dining room but sadly they just contain books and kitchen gadgets...  :(
