Misplaced items

I won't be able to find a load of stuff, soon.

Made such a 'white metal' mess on the desk. (I was reaming 90% of a fair sized model down with the 'heaviest/biggest/roughest' tungsten carbide burr I've got......The 'dust' went everywhere.)

I had to clean the desk of all the models sitting there and then use the mini Vax...on the desk, floor and ME. (Silver dandruff, or what ?)

Used that as an excuse to have a really good tidy up....It was actually quite satisfying, almost cathartic (?)....Binned loads of garbage, put things away....properly...VERY dangerous, as I'll wonder where the 'proper place' was, in a couple of days.

Do you have a razor saw? Probably a better choice for removing large amounts of metal, then can use the dremal to do the final shaping. The metal for figures is soft enough to cut.

I actually have two different sized ones, Forbes. (Though I really ought to get some handles for them !)

I never use them.
If I have to saw anything off, I use a jeweler's/piercing saw..I've got much more control with that.

The model I was playing with yesterday was basically the right shape...It just had a load of thick/heavy armour over the main body....It was all the armour that had to go.
I'd have had to use the saw sideways....Which as Martyn has hinted, would probably not be a good idea.

It was just about all of he surface detail that had to go, Forbes. 

There's about 70% of the head's detail left......But all the rest is VERY shiny metal now

It would almost certainly have taken longer, Meirion...

(And as it's got four legs already, that theoretically made for an easier/quicker 'former'.....Though now I've taken all the rough fur off....the existing front legs are going to have to go.  )

Well the items have been found . They were almost hiding in plain sight on the dining room table, half obscured by wargaming notes for a proposed campaign. I must have taken them down from the attic last week with some other items, yet completely forgot that I had done so . When I told my family they just looked at me with more than a hint of despair!

The queue for wargames sympathy with every family is frequent and often fruitless. I can see their faces now.

Well I have just done the same. Sorting out a 20mm Royal Marine Commando Assault squad for Chain of Command- (Holiday painting project). I KNEW I had a Vickers with commando crew and enough riflemen.  But when I planned it out I could not find the Vickers or enough riflemen.

I looked in the draw with my unpainted 20mm WW2 stuff twice. Cleared my painting table. Checked the basing table and all places I had been in the house - nothing.

So placed Order with SHQ for a couple of packs of rifles and one of SMGs in the cap comforter as I already had berets. Added an extra PIAT team and an  early war German motorcycle combo for good measure.

This arrived two days later on Wednesday.  last night I was checking what paints I needed to take away and opened the ringbinder I keep all my painting guides in - Guess what fell out !!!!!

still at least I have a good few figures in cap comforter instead of all in Berets.

Now should I do a complete assault squad in comforters - HMMMMM

They're probably hanging out with my WW1 French Senior Officers that have been MIA for about four years.

Well a nice surprise this morning, the postman delivered a replacement pack of French Senior Officers. Much appreciated, will have to think about how they'll take charge in 1930s Indochina  , I do have a spare N Gauge Citroen 11CV to carry them around. There's no date on the packet but I'm assuming that they took a long time to swim across to me here downunder 

Always great dealing with the paragons of customer service at Pendraken.
