Cut out magnetic vinyl & labels and glued to bases :)

Bought more magnetic vinyl as I had run out, got enough for at least another 5 projects as they only sell it by the meter :-\

Finished painting this batch #:-S :) :)

Just touch ups, wash, figure bases and basing to go :!!

I think the HYW Free Companies is an interesting research area - as we tend to see the bands as very homogenous but they probably had quite different characteristic based on their national composition.
I'm not sure if you saw the Longbow armour 'test' on YouTube that I posted recently - but it clearly showed the value of wearing the jupon over the harness.

I also think you might want to consider a Jacquerie army maybe.

Some of the Medieval French armies have the option of up to three elements of Jacquerie, so I already have 6 elements of them

The DBA Free Company list includes

  • Mounted or dismounted French or English men-at-arms
  • Mounted German or Spanish men-at-arms
  • English archers
  • French brigans
  • Crossbowmen
  • Hungarian horse archers
  • Breton javelinmen
So a diverse bunch :)

I have the figures I just need to identify coats of arms for 6 appropriate leaders for the men at arms :-B

Next batch on the painting rods waiting for the weather to improve enough to allow undercoating :-w

Current batch based :)

Reviewed current research on the Free Company and have identified 4 of 6 leaders for the men at arms and their banners :) #:-S

  • Seguin de Badefo
  • Bascot de Mauléon
  • Captal de Buch: Jean de Grailly
  • Louis II de Mâle: Count of Flanders

Now I need to find 2 appropriate leaders for the German or Spanish men-at-arms that I can find banners for  :-B

Blimey I'd almost forgotten that series....I read it years ago since it featured Charles the Bold but never really got into the books, the plot seemed a bit too convoluted to hold my interest.

Paul did borrow my copies of Heath's "Armies of the Middle Ages" which I think he found useful in tracking down some of the heraldry that he has used.

But the weather sure isn't going to play ball for any photos tomorrow sorry Techno:

6+ metre waves coming ashore on the South Coast, Southerlies gusting 90-100kph with snow down to low levels and road closures expected....a top of about 6 degrees C before windchill  :o

Not going to be good for much tomorrow, still you can't beat Wellington on a good day!!!  ;)

At least two of those are from noble families, so these may work.

Others are more difficult to track down with just a name.
