10mm American War of Independence

I have started painting up 10mm figures for the battle of Cowpens (1781), at a figure ratio of roughly 1:8, as a bit of a project for lockdown.

I have painted 24 figures to represent the approximately 180 soldiers of the 7th Royal Fusiliers.





The figures are based on 40x25mm bases using the rear 5mm for labels.
I think this gives a good looseness of files suitable for the battles on the North American continent.

Very nice, indeed! I'm currently reading my Osprey books on the Philadelphia campaign again and, suitably enthused, toying with the idea of starting a small Pendraken AWI collection. In the planning of such matters, numbers of figures and bases are a critical factor. Although my SYW battalions are 32 figures strong, I don't fancy going in so heavily this time and will probably approach unit size from a more 'minimalist' direction (e.g., 3 figs per base instead of 8 ). What rules did you have in mind when deciding on your unit size and basing regime?
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

Westmarcher, 3 figures per base seems very low. The foot looks best in two ranks

@Westmarcher, I don't really have any rules in mind, because the likelihood is that they will likely do much more sitting in boxes than they will do refighting any actual battles. I did mock up a quick ruleset which I may try to properly finish bodging together once both sides are completed, but that was more to help sketch out what I wanted to do with the figures and labels.

As for 8 to a base and 24 figures, I think 8 looks nicely spaced on those sized bases and at 1:8 figure ratio the 7th at Cowpens would be 22 figures and I see no harm in the extra 2!
