OK so we're one senior medical person light now, with her three deputies shifted onto 7 day weeks to compensate the shortfall.

I don't see the Sun's "essential journey" Photographer, Piers "W*****r" Morgan of any of the other press pack who celebrated anther scalp volunteering to empty bedpans.

Only one person is responsible for that.

Regardless of what her expert roles encompassed, her public persona was in delivering the single most important message of the Government's strategy to stay at home, save lives and protect the NHS and to deliver that advice with conviction and authority.  ................... Fail (with implications)!

Its OK, it only reflects badly onto Wee Jimmie Krankie (AKA Nichola Sturgeon) and that wee sh*te has no chance of my vote if she ever gets her Indy Ref 2 (has she forgotten that it will in fact be number 3 1979, 2014 and the 12th of never)

Ah, but don't forget that these referendums are once in a lifetime generation things.

Where 'generation' has been re-defined to mean 'as often as possible until we get the result we want' . . .

"Stay home. Protect the NHS. Save lives."

She obviously doesn't believe it, why should we?

But there are so many people out there with that attitude.

I was out yesterday delivering food to my daughter & son in law who have CV19 (& 7 month old grand-son - who doesnt) when I got cut up on a dual carriageway by a posse of 4 supercharged cars and a bunch of young lads & girls out joy-riding on the empty roads - clearly flouting just about every restriction going - as well as the speed limit and the lock-down.
Some people seem to think rules just dont apply to them

On indyref, we were told that unless we voted Yes we would leave the EU and our living standards would fall but not to worry because if anything major changed we would get another vote.

We're leaving the EU, living standards are falling and we're in the middle of a major health crisis in which the Scottish Parliament has been several days ahead of the Westminster one in taking necessary actions. We're due another vote.

On the Chief Medical Officer, people in her position  (like Ceasar's Wife) need to be above suspicion.

On a lighter, and hopefully less controversial, note BBC 24hr News channel's subtitles have just referred to Dominic Raab as the "defective deputy Prime minister." I trust that should have read de facto :D

Personally I think that if any of the countries that make up the UK want independence, all of the countries in (or left in) the UK should be allowed to vote on whether that country is  given independence as it has an effect on all of them.

I have little respect for the man or his politics, but in  these difficult times, my heart goes out to him and those close to him. I pray he, and all others facing the same ordeal,
comes through this time of trial safely.

Fingers crossed for your daughter and son-in-law Mark. A friend of ours had to have the ambulance out to him yesterday as they're pretty sure he has Covid-19. They gave him antibiotics (his chest was infected) and he seems to be on the mend, which is good.

As for Boris, I wish him well and all the others in the same position. Whatever you think of the man, he's been doing the best he can in a situation the World has never had to deal with before.

What is it with Health officials X_X

The New Zealand Minister of Health has been demoted and stripped of his non-health roles after driving his family 20km (12miles) so they could have a walk on a beach

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/120859271/health-minister-stripped-of-portfolios-after-taking-beach-trip-amid-lockdown

The Prime Minister has made it very clear that he is an idiot and the only reason he hasn't been sacked is that the time required to bring someone else up to speed would impact our efforts against Covid-19

He has at least admitted that he felt "like a complete dick" when he realised his mistake. There is a good chance that he will not stand for Parliament at the next election

Is... that an actual quote? If so, remarkable honesty, we could do with more of that!

Yes, it's the "Ceaser's Wife" thing, isn't it? You can't say one thing and do another, certainly not for trivial reasons (lot of people just don't have the support to say keep food incoming by magic so HAVE to go to the shop).

But there's none so bad for ignoring health issues as doctors (don't smoke or drink, loose some weight, says the cigar chewing port swilling overweight doc...).

Perhaps the idiots should have a word with a mate of mine, who is a dental technician (he makes amazing false teeth etc). He's been repurposed into a support nurse for COVID-19 cases. Training technically good, but he had a very sh*t day yesterday as it didn't cover what to do when your patients die. As they did.
