2020 Deaths.

Dennis O'Neil.  Comic book writer.

If you read American comics, you've probably read some of his work. His Green Arrow/Green Lantern work was truly ground breaking.

This is from The Week magazine.

"The last American receiving a Civil War pension has died at the age of 90.  Irene Triplett received $73.13 a month for her father Mose Triplett's service in the 3rd North Carolina Mounted Infantry, a Union regiment known as Kirk's Raiders, which carried out a campaign of sabotage.  Mose, who fathered Irene at the age of 83 (!!!-my exclamation points), died in 1938 at he age of 92. 

To add to the story, he actually started the war fighting on the Confederate side and then when he went to the Gettysburg re-union, he (understandably) didn't crack a light when he was billeted with the Confederate vets that he had deserted and changed sides.

So sad that it has to be to about Dame Vera Lynn dying 
R.I.P. even in the past few weeks in the charts.

Would it be an exaggeration to say she was an icon ?

A very sad day  .....I'm sure there will be a lot of folk, including Von's Mum, and those of that age, and close by, who will be very sad at her passing.....But what an innings.
