I am not a good painter even at 28mm so you can imagine what my 10mm is like, I have had glasses since my 20s and my fingers are getting a bit arthritic but I do enjoy dabbing paint on my little armies. Once they are based up in their units and on my wargames table en mass they look fine an do me just dandy. I always love seeing lovely painted figures that others do but I know I will never achieve that standard but it never stops me bashing away! :)

I paint to please me, in a style that I find pleasing. As a solo gamer that causes no problems at all.

For example, for the Normans, I'm going with the colour scheme used on the Bayeux Tapestry. For a palette it's rather muted, but that's the challenge.

... and yes I know the colours will have faded in the last 950 years, but I'd like my Normans to look a bit like this ...



What does confuse me is the different colours of mail. I'm going with gunmetal dry brushed silver/steel. I like it.

There's a school of thought that before colour photography, there was no colour and the world was in black and white. Imagine only having a palette/paint box of only black, grey and white? 
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

I think the most important thing is that you are happy with what you have achieved and try not to worry about what other people have done.
