Very good, I have always felt that a 4' x 3' table makes a great demo size as it meets the real life table sizes that other humans have at home amd so more  inspiring for that.

Thanks for the link Pixie!

Norm as you are a master of small space gaming I have learned a good deal from your blog and comments here. The combination of For King and Parliament (TtS! As well) and 10mm allows for a good deal of shrinkage. My units are somewhat condensed, having been reduced from a 5" front (and roughly 30 to 35 figures) down to a 3" front ( 18 to 25 figures). I think you are quite correct in saying that the typical weekend wargamer (most often playing solo) has limited (and only periodically available) space.

I greatly admire the M&P units Mollinary, PaulR (and Pierre), and Zippee build and they look very proper. I have to give that up for space.
I followed a discussion recently on TMP regarding unrealistic formations. Mine are unrealistic in that I add increasing depth to the pikes to give a clue to the M to P ratio. It doesn't look quite right but I tend to be more interested in the play.

These New Zealand pom poms are much nicer to look at. :)

I am putting together a 3' x 4' traveling game to demonstrate For King & Parliament to other humans. The Battle of Montgomery (1644) is the example scenario in the rules and a useful common denominator (plus it has lots of cavalry which I almost never have in my usual gaming). I recently saw Paul's pictures of Stow-on-the-Wold (1646) in which the NZ group used various colored 5mm pom poms for the variety of markers required for FK&P. I have seen them used before but until I saw Paul's pics, I had never considered them.

I have a collection of markers made but for Ammo and Dash I use 5mm dice in frames as counters. They work fine for leisurely solo play but are a bit too fiddly for travel and quicker group play. So now I have pom poms:

Green for Dash, Lavender for Ammo.

Thanks to the Kiwi gentlemen.

Good idea

Might I suggest Leon knocks us up a bag to two to support our games

Take care
