And now in Southport, the fairly heavy snow we had first thing , like Leman a couple of miles down the road, has now entirely gone, and the roads are almost dry.

Re-reading that sentence, it seems to be made of English words, but barely uses English grammar.

Fred, in all honesty, it scans well for me. I approve of your comma usage which makes the sentence completely comprehensible.
Of course, I am not English.

A definite case of here today and gone tomorrow for yesterday's heavy snowfall. Out and about without gloves again. Mind you, my mate's just got back from Texas, where it was 23C.

Formby, Merseyside, sea level and twenty miles beyond the yellow warning area in the foothills of the Pennines. Woke up to a thick covering of snow on everything, including tree branches, washing line etc., with thick flakes pouring down. At the same time Carol Kirkwood on the telly is saying that my area may see some snow at higher levels but generally it will be dry with sunny intervals.  ;D ;D ;D

I couldn't get to Northallerton on Thursday morning due to the bad weather, since it came from the west and only lasted a day can we call it the 'pest from the west'

Looks a lot like here - snow everyday but one in March - although not enough to do more than dust us.
Btw - nice looking garden area, Andy.

Every time I go out the weather is different. Snow. Sun. Rain. Sun. Rain. Sun and then creeping blue fog that takes the children.

Typical Runcorn really.
