There are some very colorful uniforms in the GNW, and that is a great part of what grabs me in a period or army. Countries had not truly adopted a color associated with nationality yet.

Thanks for the support.

I'll be uploading some photos of the Russian army so far over the weekend.  Only 14 battalions and 5 dragoon regiments...not quite the 54000 figure Dresden I just saw 

And no the armies had not adopted single colours, although the Swedes are almost totally in blue apart from the 3/4/5 man regiments, and most of my Russians are in green with red facings as that made it easy to send one figure sample to the painters!

Your basing size on infantry is the same as we've ended up with for Twilight of the Sun King - 120mm wide (although 30mm deep), coming from putting two 60mm bases originally for P&S together, with about the same figure count! If P&S palls, give Twilight a try, Hwicce and co. have just released a scenario book for the GNW.

Any reason the cavalry are a bit less wide - just fits the figures better?

Yeah it was asthetic. I could have gone to same frontage with extra horse figures, but I had to draw a line somewhere!  As you just front up one per facing for the pike and shotte rules, the couple of cm isn't an issue.

First of all nice work on the figures and on your blog. Toxic was talking about me above.

I am not sure that Twilight of the Sun King will be for you as it is designed for large battles rather than a more tactical set like Pike and Shotte. But if you wanted to try them your basing would be fine. We use 10mm Pendraken at my club but we also do GNW demo's at shows in 6mm.

Just preparing the next one which will be a 'what if' battle in 1708 at a place called Horka. This was a real position taken up by the Russians to defend Moscow but the Swedes never attacked it, they had gone South to the Ukraine. In any case the attraction of doing it is that the Swedish army was the largest they ever had at this time so it is a chance to max out on them

I am afraid probably not. The guy who has the 6mm figures and terrain actually lives in Kent. So we have shown the GNW games at Salute and the 6mm show in Sheffield. We are not going to bother with Salute any more and we will do a show between us and London instead - somewhere like Reading.

We have done 5 of these, Horka will be 6. Next year it will be Poltava, which will probably be the last new one for a while. I am hoping we will then try taking these to different shows, including WMMS.

Yes that will be good. Our club is doing a LOA game of Twilight of the Sun King in 28mm. I will probably be doing something on the P&S society stand - most likely ECW/TYW. I have a plan to make a double sided mat with Cherition from the ECW on one side and Fleurus from the TYW on the other. Just not sure if it will work
