We used to play Pike & Shotte (with last Hussars amendments for WSS ish), and enjoyed it. But I really like Twilight for simplicity and size. Different flavour of game, different focus. Much easier to get an in Period feel without needing the raft of special rules P&S used to tool box things :)

I'd suggest joining the Yahoo! Group as well - there's some scenarios and lots of rules and period discussion :)

I, for one, am interested in hearing about your "rapid basing" technique

The results are good looking. My rapid basing scheme omits your steps two through four, however.  :)

Ha ha well I'm guessing you use coloured ballast and flock then.

Been there, did that with army painter basing material, didn't like the resulting single tone brown or how easily it fell off.

So that's why I experimented with a wash and natural tones  :D

Just so. Sometimes, if the mood strikes, I use two different shades to paint the base then ballast the darker areas and flock the lighter.
My very rapid approach is one color - flock only. I use about a 70/30 PVA/water and brush it on. Once the base is dry - drip more of the diluted PVA on the ballast portions. BTW - glad you took my comment as tongue-in-cheek and not touting a "better" way.

Which is why your rapid way looks WAY better than my rapid way.  :D

Jaztez,

I read through your blog yesterday and really liked it, wish I had started a specific blog for my 15mm Raphia project.

Interesting on the out come of your painting company and may well use them for one of my Seven Year war armies.

Your basing tute was very interesting, I hate basing.  So for 10mm I just flock, easy, simple and I'm happy with the resukts.

I look forward to your progress.
