What are the decals of?

para wings for the shoulders (almost too small to be worthwhile)
NCO chevrons (just about visible)
Red cross armband - defiantly visible, but probably a pain to put on.

But they came with the Warlord figures, so I feel I should use them. More usefully the sheet includes vehicle decals too.

I've already done the wings and nco stripes on 15 or so, and they were fairly straight forward - being used to putting decals on 10mm tanks and 6mm planes, these aren't that small.

I was thinking more of the lack of flat surfaces

Decaled up the paras this evening, didn't quite have enough wings for all of them, but good luck spotting which ones don't have them  

The lack of flat surfaces wasn't a big problem at all, the arms are gently enough curved that putting the wings on the shoulder area is fine. On the odd sergeant's stripes I used a bit of Micro Sol to soften the decal so it would mould into shape. This went doubly so for the medic's armband.

Super close up shot so that you have half a chance of seeing the wings!



Give them another coat of gloss tomorrow. Then think about basing. Then just a final matt coat of varnish.

Very effective highlighting

The decals went on much better than I expected, although I coludn't hear the cursing from here

Thanks both. The decals went on with little trouble. There were only two that I recall being a bit fiddly; an NCO stripes that flipped over and took an age to get the right way up, and the medic's armband that needed cutting to fit and had to curve round the arm.

I've got back into painting these, and getting them finished off. I'm really not sure the decals are worth the effort, but they aren't hard to do, and came with the figures, and I will know they are there.

Thanks Terry, I've bascially followed the video recipe given on Warlord's site. Which fortunately I had all the paints for, and the end result seems to work.
