I think they were just a standard pack of Pendraken ECW cavalry. About half are in lobster pots the rest in Burgonets.

From the angle taken some of the Lobster pots looked to have pistols, someone mentioned "mainly armed with pistols" as well

Having another look the Lobster pots appear to be armed with swords, as are the ones I got recently

Great looking figures of a very favorite period.

This past Saturday fought a couple of battles using my German-Danish against Cromwell's New Model Army. Let me just say the lack of Horse in the German-Danish forces was all too well realized!!!

Sorry - as you say they do look as if they could have pistols. And with the scots cavalry I had to look twice to see if they were carrying swords or pistols. I suspect with both a paint job conversion would probably work.

Epic scale Squat War Engines

Now for something completely different, as they say...

Two giant tunnelling war engines, and a Cyclops super heavy laser cannon / tank thing.

And to give an idea of size with a LoA officer

All three are block painted, but need more detailing (I feel I may have typed this a few times recent posts...)

These are dwarves we are talking about.  All their machines are self-cleaning and also contain micro breweries.

What do you want to know, Peter ?
I've heard some really scurrilous rumours about them, and I think the tabloids are getting ready to run the stories.  :D

A philosophical question. Are the machines entering or leaving the earth? If entering, then they may well be clear of dirt. If exiting, then one would assume a slightly grubbier appearance.

"But!" I hear you cry, "surely the fact that the bottle cap things are up in the air suggests that the meerkat-finders are exiting?" To that I say "pshh!"

In a civil engineering tunnelling process like underground railways, it is fine to have uni-directional bottle caps. However, these are tactical war engines, that need to be able to go anywhere, so the ability to go in reverse in necessary.

As to dirt - yes, they need a bit of finishing on the base painting front, then need thoroughly weathering, I'm thinking rust and mud.

Leaving the ground - in game they are a delivery mechanism. This does imply that at some point they have entered the ground, but that happens off-table.

Tudor Bills and Shot

The final one of my current in flight projects are some opponents for the Irish forces, some Tudor (or Elizabethan) Bill and Shot. The shot are Pendraken and definitely the right sort of figures, the 'bills' are Warmonger Landschkect halberdiers, they kind of have the right look and more importantly I have loads of these figures,  of which these are the first to get paint on them.

These Warmonger figures are big - not sure if this is deliberate as they are meant to be big soldiers, or its just a bit of scale creep.

This is the state of the figures at the weekend - some more progress has been made, so I'll try and get an up-to-date photo later this evening.
I've probably gone far too uniform on these figures, but in Irregular Wars a base of troops doesn't represent that many real world troops, so I'm happy to believe a smallish cohort might have been equipped in a uniform manner.

They certainly are the business. My suspicion is scale creep. It seems to be endemic at the moment which kind of negates the whole point of 10mm.
