Has anyone come up with a way to represent cornfields in 10mm? Maize/corn on the cob as opposed to wheat! Ta

Carpet or welcome mats are easy for crops and furrowed fields.  Also Corduroy from old pants or blazers.

Sounds crazy but check it out:

Ive made a few using free samples at the large home improvement stores(In the US there is home depot, lowes, etc.)

Heres samples from some sites:

Hi

Check this out: http://www.6mmacw.com/cornfields.html

It is for 6mm figures from the Altar of Freedom rules website, but I do not see why it shouldn't work for 10mm figures.

Also Wargamersterrain has some nice stuff (corn stalks near the bottom of the page):

I recently got these from the States:

http://www.bluford-shops.com/bluford_93_042.htm

They look a bit weird being all the same in rows but I twist the individual stalks before I put them together and that makes for a completely different look. Still have quite a few to do and then paint them but I find this a very nice and, relatively, cheap option!

Best possible use for corduroy. Better than wearing it, certainly...

I just can't decide whether to leave it unbased & so conforming to the terrain, or base it so I can make it look a bit more ... scenic...

Thanks everyone, much appreciated.

Dr Dave

try basing in "clumps" the same size as you units - that way you can have them moving IN the field rather than hovering over it!

Yes, I use artificial grass samples.  Google 'artificial grass samples' and you will get a load of results for free samples.  I can't remember where I got mine from but they came in handy 'field-sized' pieces.  Free - what's not to like?
