Overnight Photobucket have changed their terms and conditions, buried deep within this is this phrase:
"The free account does not allow any image linking or 3rd party image hosting. If a free account Member exceeds their Content Limit, their account will be immediately suspended and they will need to become a "Paying Member"."

So, recommendations chaps?

I pay because I find it works for me, but others have found alternatives mentioned on a very recent thread. The advantage of paying is that the ads go and it all runs very smoothly making posting a doddle - but then, I don't have a mortgage to pay any more.

Same as Leman apart from the mortage  :(

Stopped using them some time back, as a non-payer the site was difficult to use due to interference from advertising.  Imgur far better IMHO.

I have a Google blog.
I use it to host images and link from them onto forums.
I don't pay for the blog. Keep the image resolution sizes to 700 pixels or less on the dimensions. I don't know if there is a limit to how much data can be stored on a Google blog, but I've never exceeded it - though I do periodically delete old or irrelevant stuff just to make sure. You need to have a GMail email account to open a Google blog, but that is it - it is quick and simple to create and there isn't any catch, apart from Google now knows of your existence as you have an email and blog account.
I reckon making a blog, use it to host images, turn off blog reader comments on the posts, and it'll do the exact same job as PB. Though you need to be able to resize and crop your own images, as Google blogs don't do that for you - I use my computer's Paint program (which is the most basic paint program known to technology)
I don't have any experience with the other blog provider, so can't offer any insights.

An alternative is to blutac Polaroid pictures onto your computer screen and hope it works  8-}

Rimmer: "Well, we didn't use it all, Lister. Who did?"

Lister: "Rimmer, aliens used our bog roll?"

And indeed, the entirety of my painting thread has been hit with the 'no more image linking'

Blast, I was just about to post a couple of new Centurion pics I took at TankFest last Saturday, including a vehicle beside the main gate that I couldn't identify but looked like a big field gun in a big box stuck on top of a centurion hull.  I'd never seen it before as it was by a gate I don't normally use.

Yep, one of the reasons I maintain a blog is for linking pictures!

I use Blogger to host any of my pictures worth viewing. Your opinion may vary.

I've not checked our Photobucket for a while, we certainly don't pay anything for it but it seems to be working OK.  I'll go and have a poke around...

A Blog is by far and away the easiest option IMHO.

When making such a big change to their terms and conditions, shouldn't we be informed and asked to accept those new conditions?

Really sad thing, a lot of posts on the forum are now picture-less...

I had a quick look at my PB account when I saw this.....It appears I've only used 1% of my total freebies.
(Mind you...I don't post many pics, do I ? :-[)

Just had a little visit to Photobucket. As far as I can make out I'm safe until some time in 2018, after which they want $399 a year to post to another site. To quote Big Bad Boris, they can go whistle! I'll either find another way or stop posting except on Faceache.

Sitting in work looking at various war-games related blogs in my break and photobucket has really screwed these blogs up.  I am repeatedly seing blogs and tutorial with  the photos showing how to do things replaced with the "Please upgrade your accounbt to allow Third party posting"

while I personally do not use photobucket it really p*sses me off, that they provide a free service and presumably make money from the advertising then when thay can screw everyone up they then introduce these charges.

Indeed, a lot of info/tutorials have dissapeared.

I can only imagine what happened to people who have an online store and used photobucket to store their pictures!
