Instead of sensibly painting more units so I can actually play a game with painted figures I wandered off and painted Humbaba, the demon who guarded the Cedar Forest and who was klilled by the Sumerian heroes Gilgamesh and Enkidu.

Often depicted as a severed head made out of human entrails I opted instead for the description in the Epic of Gilgamesh of a creature with a lion's head, ox horns, vulture's claws, a hide covered in spines and thorns and a tail that ended in a snake's head (as did his "member" but that seemed an anatomical detail too far :) )

I'm pleased with how it turned out so, with armies still to complete, I'm now going to paint ..... some Sumerian city modules  =) =) =)

That's some lovely work. Very nicely done

Lister: "Oh God, aliens... Your explanation for anything slightly peculiar is aliens, isn't it?

Rimmer: "Well, we didn't use it all, Lister. Who did?"

Lister: "Rimmer, aliens used our bog roll?"

Ithoriel

Thank you!

He started out as Microworld's Great Dingonek so not much work to convert.

I wasn't aware that you were "often depicted as a severed head made out of human entrails"! I'm sure your artists are doing you a disservice.

But I was confident that Humbaba would be turning up sooner or later in your Ur-armies. Nice work. :)

Orinoco, do you remember Great-uncle Bulgaria's reminiscences about the pangolin he had an affair with in his youth? It's all true!

Trust me, they flatter me outrageously :)

If only I had some armies for him to turn up in :)

"If you go down to the woods today you're in for a big surprise..."

I don't know why I didn't think of that song first time around
