Completely agree with Will's comments.

A most enjoyable report, thank you. The attacks on Genappes Wood was a bloody shambles, wasn't it? This has really encouraged me to get the bit-between-my-teeth and paint up some early WWI forces and get gaming before the centenary of the Armistice.

Glad you enjoyed it Gazza, Hope it does inspire you to do some early war stuff. The attack on the wood didn't go quite as intended for the British....  ;)

We played a game at our local convention on Saturday based on the Action at Elouges (from the 2nd day of the Battle of Mons 24 August 1914) that got quite a lot of interest from visitors and other gamers. I will do a bit of a AAR later this week on that if I have time, though the English press might have another point of view from mine  :-

As one gamer observed to me WW1 is a period that does not receive a lot of attention game wise. Even got asked if, as the German player, could I use mustard gas....had to point out that at this stage of the war "gentlemen's rules" still applied, but its use is covered in the ITLSU rules we use.

It was a very interesting scenario and there is likely to be a British account later this week as well ;)

Thanks for organising two very interesting games over the weekend Peter

No we don't use GWSH Le Manchou...we use Two Fat Lardies "lf The Lord Spares Us" rules with small adoptions to allow use in the "pre trenches" 1914 period in France.

Cheers
