So after more than 2 months of ignoring the family, locking myself in the games room, drinking copious amounts of alcohol and swearing a lot..... I have finally finished all the militia units for Guilford Courthouse. Hurrah !

First Line :

Warren County Militia



Franklin County Militia



Linton's Regiment



Caswell County Militia



Granville County Militia (in skirmish order)



Orange County Militia



Second Line:

Colonel Randolph's Militia Regiment



Colonel Holcombe's Militia Regiment



Pittsylvania County Militia



Colonel Cocke's Militia Regiment



Augusta and Rockbridge Militia



And finally all of them en masse

Sorry to ask, but did you manage to indentify particular flags for units or are they conjectural ;)
Either way they look very good and set off the units very well :)

Superb painting. Always fancied doing this using Charles Grants refight in "The Wargame" , just never got around to starting it.

Thanks all.

Paul - the flags are conjectural. I'm not sure there's any evidence at all for the militia flags at GC. My flag technique is to print down a Black and White template from the Internet and then overpaint it. So I just picked ones that looked nice and many of them are definitely wrong.... But who's to say otherwise  ;)

I suspected that would be your answer, about the only flag we seem to be sure about is the "Guildford Courthouse" flag which definitely wasn't at the battle  ;)

Well I've emerged from my deep freeze and my Guildford Courthouse project is finally back on again. First I had to do an audit of the figures and tonight I've undercoated those that will make up the balance of The 2nd Maryland Regt. Sorting out the makeup , nomenclature and uniforms of the Continental Regts at GC is a bit of a nightmare, I suspect no one knows the right answer..










So this is now the painting project at the top of the queue. Other than a brief planned diversion to do some Undead in March I will finish all my forces to do GC at 1:10 in the next couple of months. Currently outstanding are

2nd Virginia (or 5th depending on who you believe)
Balance of 1st Maryland and 2nd Maryland
Lee's horse
Top-ups for 33rd, 23rd and van Bose to convert them from 1:20 to 1:10
British Legion cavalry
RA 6 pdr
British Guards in proper uniform to replace the 1768 warrant figures I've currently got painted
,
