After reading the forum for well over a year I have noticed a wide variance in  the amount of time people seem to spend actually playing. Just curious about this. Also please count boardgames (wargame based) in your time estimate. Do I have to ask the fellowship to  also make a comment on your vote?  :)
My answer is well under 5%

Hard to calculate, but as I play 3 or 4 evenings and a full day game most months, I'm sure it must be over 15%.

I usually play a game once or twice a week, e.g. I have a game on Thursday morning (probably FoG again, yawn), and another Thursday evening (Honours of War - an excellent set of rules producing a free flowing, very enjoyable game).

Board games Tuesday and Friday evenings. Two different groups and usually half-a-dozen or so of us.

Tabletop gaming two or three Sunday afternoons a month and occasional evenings.

At least 4 hours computer gaming every day.

Out to the cinema at least once a week, regular lunch and afternoon tea outings with friends and family.

3 or 4 days a month with my folks.

Busy, busy, busy!

So, three hours most Thor's days, two hours painting a night, 22 hours thinking about Wargames...
How do I work that out?

One game a month for 4 to 5 hours. Paint every day with more on weekends; probably 8 to 10 hours. Read military history every day (at least 3 books going at a time depending on where I am).

So if 8 hours per day (?) is available for gaming, and I think this is generous, I am at 4/240 which is under 2%.

At the moment I only think about it.  :(

Are you meaning of the time I get to spend on all wargaming activities (e.g. Forums, painting, reading, playing) what percentage is playing?

Well I normally play once a week for 4 hours.
Probably do painting or foruming 2 hrs a day for the other 4 week days 8 hours
Probably get a few hours of painting or modelling at the weekend say 4 hours
And a bit of reading say 2 hrs
Which is a nice round 20hrs a week. Of which 4 is playing.

Yes, thanks Fred.
Gaming: the time actually spend rolling dice, drawing cards, moving pieces and debating the specific application and meaning of rules.
Total time in the pursuit: everything else (including background reading and explaining (in my case) to my wife was it was essential that I raid the thread drawer of her sewing table)

O Dinas Powys

Apart from the very occasional convention game, I'm only theoretically a wargamer  :'(

(Even more so since I misplaced Dux Bellorum rulebook  =(( )

I generally can get a game in every week if I play something more mainstream like Infinity (Corvus Belli).  But to get in the more historical periods and rules I'm interested in [Horse and musket era] I generally have to set up the game and supply all the armies.  So most of my time is spent painting or researching.

The rest of the time is looking at the release of new rules... thinking about miniatures to go with the rules... building up grand schemes... and then talking myself out of it before I press "Go", because I have plenty of those projects in the lead pile already that I'm slogging my way through painting!   :-[

The current plan is a game one evening a week, paint or build something six evenings a week, paint or build something or babysit my grandson seven afternoons a week. I keep my mornings free for other family/household duties.

I have no idea what that means in percentages.

Lord Kermit of Birkenhead

Once sometimes twice a week, at Wings sports and social, painting/modelling as often as I can, but with 13 hr days fairly common (ie to Neath, home via Avonmouth, Bristol Parkway, Castle Donnington, Sheffield !) tend to only paint on Thursdays and Saturdays.
