Army Painter and Amazon.

Having just put together a Warlord Games Marlburian English  regiment, I decided I would prime it with a red for speed of painting. I had a look on Amazon for the paint I wanted - Army Painter Dragon Red primer. There it was, price £96!!!! 

I promptly took myself off to Southport on my free ticket, went into Wargames and asked if they had the Dragon Red spray in stock. They did, for the princely sum of £8.99! Go figure.

Must have been "Rare, OP, and Pro-Painted" like you see on eBay...

Just a thought.

(Mind you, like everyone else, I've spotted some 'rare' items for sale at ludicrous prices.......)

May well have been one of the automated price checking bots in a frenzy, they do that sometimes.

Our experience with Amazon (and we are both major customers) is that this is a very frequent occurance. We often will find items listed side by side one priced at, for example, $6.00 and the next identical one at say $75.00. These almost always come from different distributors, with different availability and shipping. We think it acts in part like click-bait. People price high hoping someone will click the wrong button.

Usually by searching further you can find a reasonably priced item. I'm not sure why Amazon allows this practice.

Incidently beware the China disributers - often they have the best price but they ship things by container routed through the Panama Canal, around the Horn, through the Suez to the US East Coast (as a fanciful but likely route!). The product may be of inferior quality to boot.

Out of curiosity I checked the US site. Out of several dozen combinations of choices (shipping and availability) the best I could do for the Army Painter you wanted was ~ £15.50. Still near twice what you paid.

Very true. I live in a hot bed of model railroading. Our last, quite excellent hobbyshop (exclusively railroading but lots of scenery items) closed a few monthes ago.
