Does a neat paint job matter?

If you use a black undercoat like wot I does, a lot of 'mistakes' get lost in the shadows so I ignore them.  My mistakes are mostly when the brush slips and paint goes where it shouldn't then a wet brush usually sorts it out. I too adopt the 2' rule and it works for me. As others have said, it's the overall effect of the unit not individual chaps.

I find with 10mm figs I look at units not individuals so it is easier to let some mistakes through.

A neat job but not excessively so - no point, its 10mm, I use army painter after painting, make a big difference IMHO. Avoid close up magnified inspections - why on earth would you want to anyway. Always make sure the basing is top notch, ditto the terrain, if the latter two are up to snuff the overall effect will be very pleasing.
Don't buy your daughters a pony, buy them heroin instead, its cheaper and ultimately less addictive.

If I am painting figures for myself then it matters to me.

If I am painting figures for someone else then it matters to me.

However, time is important so I don't dwell too much on corrections.

These are gaming pieces.  For playing, a neat paintjob doesn't matter.  I'm sure however, we all try to paint the best that we can.   :)

I try to be neat, but my photography tells me otherwise!
