What was the last ruleset you played 2017?

3. Getting there - there is a withering fire rule which is not in Square Bashing, which I have asked for clarification of on the Peter Pig forum.

4. Unusually the French ended up as the attackers after the pre-game manoeuvres. Despite 1/3 of the Prussians being held off table initially, the French were held up by a combination of difficult terrain and Prussian withering fire, as well as the corps artillery using long range bombardment. The Prussians won.

5. Two players and a 5 hour game over two sessions. Should be quicker next time as we both become more familiar with the rules.

Thanks, yes I was aware that FoG R is in the process of being revised but have not bothered keeping up with the detail. What I am completely unclear about is how the amendments are going to be presented to the general public? However, as far as I am aware they are not going to publish a new 'edition' of the rules.

Learner drivers! New player rammed all his ships at one point! I lost my Imp star, and the Rebels lost three large capital ships, so a minor Imperial win.

15-6 win for the 10mm Samurai vs nasty 15mm French knights. Pair of ambushes allowed me to dictate the action, and my cavalry hit and destroyed three French units from the rear. I had two units blown away by close range crossbow bolts, nothing I could do to avoid it. My third loss was a unit of Ashugari, tasked with holding French knights on foot long enough for my rampaging cavalry to shatter the cheeseeatingsurrendermonkeys from the rear. Great game, very close. Proper report on the blog tomorrow.

This was a demo game at Millenniumcon last night. My Roman command was noted for charging and destroying elephants.

I liked the card activation and battle dice mechanics. Me and a buddy ordered the rules last night and are now deciding on what armies to build.

Very fun game. It was interesting to see how players'  game play changes once they realized that the rules favored the use of historical tactics.

The official story is that my brigade co-commanders (Union) failed to heed my orders to lead their attacks with skirmishers or provide supports for charges. As a result they were shot up before they engaged and wasted regiments in unsupported charges. My failure to engage the enemy right flank and prevent their destruction of our center brigade had nothing to do with our defeat.

3. Once again I had forgotten how this complex set works so spent most of the game doing what I was told with no real idea why I was doing it. I think the problem with this game is it is a wargame version of that Russian computer thing where you have to drop blocks in the right place. I'm crap at that too.

4. I keep playing this because that is what the other three lads play but I just don't get it. Can't wait until my TtS Romans and Successors are ready. My side (Wallachian} got slaughtered.

A fun game that took around 2 hours to play, with a narrow win for me. The rules still need tweaking, but we had lots of fun and got to use elephants and chariots, so what's not to like ?

I had a few quick solo games to get a handle on the game mechanics, which I picked up pretty quickly. The rules a very well laid out and it is easy to find most things with minimal effort. If only all rulesets where as easy to navigate as these. The games were pretty basic, but hope to add in more detail tomorrow. First impressions very positive, which makes me look forward to 'For King & Parliament' next year .

This was a really fun couple of games.  The rules were really easy to pick up.  All the units/leaders had silly names.  And the beer and whiskey was in abundance.

3. Very - nice and straightforward for a set of skirmish rules.

4. The Sohei were tasked with defending a shrine for 9 moves. The Koreans got into the shrine on move 9 after several hard fights. At one point my opponent said, "If you roll a double 1 we won't bother checking the result." I duly rolled snake eyes.
