Would make perfect Strongholds for HOTT armies! That's where you really get to do some fun modeling! Very creative and nicely done.

Glad you like them chaps. They were a good way of using the various figures from GW command packs and the Pendraken civilians and accessories.

FK - I think you will find it is our Germanic friends who are stockpiling the hogs / pigs (along with gun powder...).

WWII French

Managed to get quite a bit of painting time this weekend so made significant gains - this lot went from bare metal or just undercoated  to finished in the weekend.

Having played Rommel on Friday night, I wanted to get my French 1940 forces up to a playable state - basically they needed lots of infantry adding to the piles of tanks!

So this lot is what I got painted, (mostly Pithead figures)
2 Laffley trucks with Dragoon Portee aboard
4 Cavalry (I think these could well be Poles, but its 10mm and they have Adrian Helmets)
3 bases of Dragoon Portee motorcycle combos (these are Pendraken and very nice figures)
12 bases of Infantry

So this gives me the a good sized French Battlegroup

I still have a bit more infantry to paint - mainly Pendraken Dragoon Portes.

Superb stuff, well done!

I take it you're a fan of "Rommel" then? Any comments in light of the game on Friday?

I'm considering getting the rules and using my 3mm stuff for that and staying with 10mm for BKC.

Thanks chaps - I did get a lot of time to paint this weekend, and was quite disciplined in actually doing all the stages to finish these (though I've now remembered I need to spray varnish them).

Rommel - I did enjoy the game, not quite sure if I'm a fan yet. It did feel a bit generic, I think partly because its very high level and because a lot of the chrome is part of the 'battle board'. But also it was a basic introductory scenario so slightly limited on units and with no advanced rules. A full AAR is over on the Honour forum http://www.sammustafa.com/honour-forums/general-discussion-and-announcements-46/operation-brevity/msg27154/#msg27154

But the great thing about WWII is that most figures can be used with most rules. My armies where initially built for BKC, for CoC I converted a lot of multi-based infantry to single based. Then for Battlegroup most stuff just worked - with the option to add a few specialist units. And if I hadn't single based so many troops for CoC my BKC stuff would have just worked for Rommel, as it is I need to do some more infantry so I have enough single and enough multi-based troops.

Played Rommel again this last Friday - full AAR over on the Honor Site http://www.sammustafa.com/honour-forums/general-discussion-and-announcements-46/operation-epsom-first-day-(sort-of-)/

We all enjoyed the game a lot more this week - I think as the rules are so different they take a bit of getting your head around, and you end up over thinking stuff. But with a second game, you start to get it, and then just play the game.

So I did more WWII painting - this is my painting 'tray' in the good daylight in the conservatory over the weekend.

Its frankly a bit of a shambles - but there was still a couple of inches of space at the front to fit in more figures!

* On the left are the newest troops - some Minifigs Italians, just waiting on Leon to supply them with some Semovente assault guns. Their artillery is on the right hand side.
* Along the front are older 8th Army figures, Pendraken and Minifigs, which where getting a bit of a refresh and finish off. On the sand painting strips are a few more 8th Army figures, who where based last night.
* The black painting sticks are WWII French, mainly Pendraken Dragoon Portes, left over from last weekend's mammoth French painting session.
* Then there are a handful of yellow space marine vehicles (drop pods and long range artillery) which have been kicking around for months - which just need a wee bit of basing to finish them off. Really need to get them out of the way.
* Further back are various High Elf figures to make an encampment.
* Quite what is behind the 28mm 8th army figure - its probably best not to ask!
