Looking great Will!

Does occur to me that the Principes, which means first, are the second line of troops.

That the hastati, which means spearmen, are armed with gladius and pila.

However, the third line, which carrier a spear unlike the hastati, are at least called the triarii

...and fusiliers and grenadiers were generally armed with muskets, and some US cavalry units have never had horses....

Heath suggests that a hasta was originally a generic spear, and that principes were first in the sense of the troops who were experienced but not yet decrepit, thus most important.

It's brass monkeys here in Rome, to change the subject.

Cool. I reckon you've sold me on using these figures if I did a Basic Impetus 2
Rimmer: "Aliens."

Lister: "Oh God, aliens... Your explanation for anything slightly peculiar is aliens, isn't it?

Rimmer: "Well, we didn't use it all, Lister. Who did?"

Lister: "Rimmer, aliens used our bog roll?"

Great looking army Will. Re the guy with the round shield. Isn't he the signifer as he needs two hands to carry the pole, so straps a smaller round shield to his left arm. I will also be using mine with BI2, and taking on the empires to the east.

The chap with the round shield comes in the command pack, so I figured figuratively he was the command figure, go figure,
