Wilsons creek 1861 Refight

I quite fancied a ACW game so We decided to Refight the battle of Wilsons creek from the Blackpowder supplement glory hallelujah. It turned out to be quite an eventful game, you can check out my report of the battle at my blog on the following link with plenty of photos.

A really good looking game

I haven't played the rules but have seen several games played and I really struggle with blunders in Blackpowder, did units really get things so badly wrong in real life

Lovely looking game and nice touch with the civilians as 'decorative items'.

@ Paul: You don't have to use the Blunders if you don't want to. Personally I like them as they add a touch of uncertainty to the game.

Good looking and good sounding game, Neil. I quite like the blunder rules in BP too. Battle accounts are full of subordinate commanders making rash decisions, misunderstanding orders, etc. so whilst it is not too funny when it mucks up your own game plan, I think they are good fun.

Have you read any accounts of military operations? 

Isandlwana, The Light Brigade and Cartagena for just a few British examples

The Union right flank at Chancellorsville, Sickles at the Peach Orchard at Gettysburg; just two ACW examples that immediately spring to mind.

I found this entry in the "What ruleset do you use in your last game?" thread while searching for this thread
1) Black Powder (last night)   
2) French II & III Corps attacking Prussian VIII Corps in 1870
3) Definitely, we only looked inside the main rules about twice in 3.5 hours!
4) Definitely used a lot, it falls open on the 'blunder' table!
